About Liz O'Connor

Liz O'Connor began writing grants as a graduate student in 1989 and never managed to stop. Through her work as a grant writer in organizations ranging from a public television station to a community- based literacy program to a city police department, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of the process from soup to nuts. O'Connor has also worked as a consultant to community and family foundations, funder collaboratives and grant-making government agencies, and possesses a very clear understanding of what funders want - and what they don't want - from the proposal process.

Building on these varied experiences as well as her work as a teacher and trainer, O'Connor has been designing and delivering training to staff, volunteers, board members and executives of nonprofit agencies since 2000. She has designed and continues to teach four courses in the Northeastern University Graduate Program in Nonprofit Management (on grant writing, prospecting and marketing for nonprofit organizations), and also teaches a course in grant writing through Middlesex Community College.
