SMI Leadership

SMI's founder, Liz O'Connor, has 20 years experience in government and non-profit organizations, in fields including criminal justice, public safety, human, social services, and education. Liz founded SMI in 2000 after leaving the Boston Police Department, where she was Deputy Director of Strategic Planning & Resource Development. Prior to the BPD, Liz worked in a variety of roles in mission driven organizations; ranging from volunteer to Executive Director.

In addition to leading SMI, Liz teaches courses in Philosophy as well as in nonprofit management at Northeastern University's School of Professional and Continuing Studies.
